Pee Campaign

Indian campaign demands 'Right to Pee' for women
By Zubair AhmedBBC News, Mumbai

23 April 2012

Activists in Mumbai have launched a campaign to demand better public toilet facilities for women.

Currently, women have to pay to use public toilets while men can use the services for free.

The campaign, dubbed the "Right to Pee" campaign, is led by 35 non-government organisations (NGOs), and urges women in Mumbai's civic authority to ensure that the service is free for women.

Women currently make up 50% of Mumbai's civic authority.

Rahul Gaekward, who heads one of the 35 NGOs in the campaign, has outlined three basic requirements for women.

"They should be allowed to pee for free, the public toilets should provide vending machines with sanitary towels, like men have for condoms, and they should have a changing room in the toilets," he said.

There is an acute shortage of both public and private toilets in India, and public defecation is common across the country.

A census in March found that half of India's homes do not have toilets.
'Woefully inadequate'

The campaign is drawing a strong response from both men and women.

One man who signed the petition told the BBC he wanted better facilities for women in all public toilets in the city.

According to Mr Gaekward, more than 7,000 signatures were collected in the crowded and impoverished Kurla area last week.

A female student who signed the petition in the middle-class Dadar suburb said it was a question of dignity for women.

"We face a lot of problems because there are inadequate facilities in the city's public toilets," she said.

The campaigners say they surveyed 129 public toilets last year and found that the facilities for women were woefully inadequate.

They launched the same campaign last year, but received no response from the civic authority.

This time round the campaigners want to confront the female members of the authority after collecting as many signatures as possible.

I just heard this from the television, it means the leaders have to take care of the basic necessities for their citizens and discrimination of women. Why would people multiply when they cannot take care of the children? Of course the man and the woman marry because they love each other. Why have kids? Good question.

Its for continuity and advancement because you cannot live forever. Who wants to live forever? I don't. You want your sons and daughters to be the better versions of yourself. You love, teach, challenge, encourage and discipline them to be the best that they can be.

If the only thing you teach your kid is how to play, he will grow up to be a child.

Dear Gianna

Dear Gianna,

What is up, Gianna? I love your name. Gianna is music to my ears. I want to know about your family, your university, your friends, relatives and your activities. Pretty much everything about you. I have been behaving well. Not that I am scared of you. Its because the heart wants what it wants. Its natural for me. I find daily inspiration in your words and pictures. I apologize for things I did, for things I could not do and was unable to do. Pull me close so I won't get tempted. You are the judge so be it.

Completely yours.

Anthem

Songs, chants, the spoken language and gestures are the oldest forms of communication that is passed through generations that these are unwritten history. Unwritten does not mean lost. The basic framework of government that our respective forefathers have wanted is in the National Anthems. Now we have a country of our own so we have sung it many times. We have listened to it many times. We have felt it many times. We have seen it many times. We have smelled it many times. To best understand the National anthem is to dissect it because it is embedded in us.

Pardon my Filipino.

Lupang Hinirang

kailan pa may di magdidilim.

Lupa ng araw, ng lualhati't pagsinta,
buhay ay langit sa piling mo.
Aming ligaya na pag may mang-aapi,

One Republic

Malaysia has a unity campaign called the One Malaysia and I thought our country could use the slogan. One Philippines. Malaysia is a pacific mint of malays, chinese and indians and through the religions Islam, Christianity, Buddhism and Hinduism. Despite altercations, the bottom-line is they try to make it work. I just marvel at their concrete-grouted mountain sides on the countryside highways to prevent erosion.

However they are not united in using the Islamic Law or the Shariah Law.

My point is Malaysia consists of 60% Malays, 30% Chinese, 9% Indian and the remaining one percent are foreign nationals. Malaysia is not all Muslim. Actually the Indians are the more vocal protesters and they claim that there is censorship in Malaysian TV and that political parties and their supporters convene using the youtube. To be fair, those are complaints not necessarily the truth so the Malaysian government should be transparent about this issue.

To have a truly One Malaysia is to refer to your law as the Malaysian Law derived from your constitution which is based on the Shariah. Believe it or not, it makes a whole lot of difference to Malaysian citizens of Chinese and Indian descent that they are under the Malaysian Law, not a religion.

Just the same, to have a One Philippines, we should take oath on the Philippine Law not on the Bible. The Bible should not be in the courtroom to be fair with our Muslim citizens.

I am not that familiar with Indonesia but I would think they are more or less same hierarchy as Malaysia.

When you separate religion from governance, you become more welcome of foreign philosophies like Hygge, Gemutlichkeit and Dianetics, which promotes things that are good for your well-being. Singapore impresses me as they get it.

Hygge is the cosiness of the soul from Denmark.

Germutlich is from Germany, a sense of well-being based on good food, drinks and company.

Dianetics aims to discover the freedom and joy of being your true self - achieving the ability to create fulfilling relationships, lasting happiness and living life to it's absolute fullest.

I have here a copy of The Way To Happiness, a booklet from Dianetics that I be sharing with you the summary. Sue me.

1. Take care of yourself. Keep your body clean, preserve your teeth, eat properly and get rest.

2. Be temperate. Do not take harmful drugs and do not take alcohol to excess.

3. Don't be promiscuous. [My words: If you are a man, be faithful to your wife. If you are a woman, be faithful to your husband.]

4. Love and help children.

5. Honor and help your parents.

6. Set a good example.

7. Seek to live with the truth.

8. Do not murder.

9. Don't do anything illegal. [Numbers 9 and 10 should be joined together]

10. Support a government designed and run for all the people.

11. Do not harm a person of goodwill.

12. Safeguard and improve your environment. Be of good appearance, take care of your own area and help take care of the planet.

13. Do not steal. [Look, this booklet was given to me and the giver said that I share this.]

14. Be worthy of trust. Keep your word once given.

15. Fulfill your obligations.

16. Be industrious.

17. Be competent. Look, learn and practice.

18. Respect the religious beliefs of others.

19. Try not to do things to others that you would not like them to do to you.

20. Try to treat others as you would want them to treat you.

21. Flourish and prosper.

University Blog

Hey its me again, I just wanna talk about blogging ideas and what I have in mind is a university and school blog where its more of a one-stop shop that high school students can compare so that they know what suits them the most. Its because foreigners would want to know. And there are foreigners that are studying here. There is my Palauan co-worker, the islander who works as a Land Surveyor, who asked me what is the best school for him to have higher learning in the PH? Its because his other option is to go to Hawaii. Weighing the pros and cons, my suggestion was the University of Santo Tomas.

Okay if you wanna know my criteria is I have worked with co-workers who graduated from most of these schools. They represent their schools with their work ethic, knowledge and attitude. You are your school. Some of my professors were also teaching to other schools. These are measuring tools. And then you take into consideration the tuition fees whether you can afford it or not and the course in this case is a technical course. Its good for you to know this.

So the best way for graduating high schools students to choose a university or a college is to show a photo of male and female students in their respective uniforms. Let's be honest about this, sometimes students choose a school because of its colors whether they want the gold, the green, the blue, the red, the maroon, the dark blue and so on. They also choose the symbols they wanted like animals and human icons. The basketball and volleyball players also influences them. And rest is traditional.

It is to choose the school which has a secret promise to you because they teach the work ethic, knowledge and attitude that you like. We are talking about specialization. You want to be a doctor, you study in an outstanding medical school and so on. And then you take into consideration the tuition fees whether you can afford it or not.

When it coincides that the school is excellent in non-academic activities like sports and entertainment, then all the more good for you.

The athletes and talents belong to a different group because most of the time, the reverse happens when the school chases them. Don't you think that a Sports and Talent Academy becomes a separate college? Its not a good idea. What student-athletes should not take this "special treatment" for granted cause it can be taken away anytime because injuries happen or they can stagnate. So study hard and be patient with your academics because that is a long lasting talent.

Workshop

Hey, you guys have a feminine side? I mean that is automatic for women but for men, what are your feminine stuff? Its an activity where the participants are mostly women. For example I write blogs and read books. As you can see in the right side panels, most of my blog roll consists of girls. Why? It is because few men write. Okay, I admit that I know how to cross-stitch and this activity makes my brain tick because you apply the patterns into the cloth. Ironing and sewing, you learn when you live independently. And gardening is feminine.

Bucket List (Hygge)
1. Cultivating medicinal plants including bonsai, flowers and orchids.
2. Burying your legs on rice paddies, the sweat cools you down with the wind.
3. Daydreaming of fields of gold and planning the cold summer nights.
4. Driving in the countryside with the top down, you forget your shades.
5. Harvesting fruits of labor and celebrating the hard day's work with wine.
6. Candle light dinners and talking, reminiscing at the fireplace.
7. Singing duets with the wife as the wife plays the guitar.

Aquaria

Salut! Ca va? Tu me manques. Je t'adore. Je t'embrasse, Voltaire. Hey all, photos taken from the KLCC Aquaria, at the top floor of the KLCC, its a supermall because aside from it functioning as a mall, its also takes you to everywhere in Malaysia - it connects directly to the Airport via train and buses. It has the inter-state trains and there are taxis, buses to take you to the Central Bus Terminal from which you can go to the other states. The monorail is also a walking distance away. When I went here, there was a slogan-making contest asking to describe the KLCC Aquaria and I wrote "A feast for the eyes and food for the rest of the senses". I actually won a complimentary ticket to any destination of Firefly Airways and I chose to go to Thailand. I can say that I was face to face with a shark! Scary but YAY!

So there is great white shark, the samurai fish, the arowana, stingray, clown fishes, turtles with different pattern, unknown-to-me fishes, sea horses and Nemo and Dory. I am showing this to you because you should visit shark tanks and aquariums, we have here in the PH the Ocean Park so go there. Why? Because you can.

We are lucky to live in this time because the early explorers do not have the luxury of aquariums, scuba diving apparatus, underwater cameras and the like to observe fishes and marine animals in their natural habitat. The explorers used the net to catch and observe the fishes but obviously a hassle for them because they want to see how the fishes live underwater and how they interact with each other.

Night Night

Hi Guys I am here to talk about the best conditions for studying is to satisfy the five senses which means a small distraction like there are waves in the sea when the ship crosses. That you need friction so that you can walk, jog and run. I would not suggest the television because it totally takes your attention but rather a indoor water pond with waterfalls so you can see the water flows and ripples in circles and you can add instrumental music. You also wear comfortable clothes in a comfortable feel. Not too hot, not too cold. You can also have a light snack and a drink. And the sweet smell of candles and oil essences.

I would suggest further that women should not wear short shorts outside the house because it is distracting. Let's say for example, the woman has an irritable husband and they go out on a date. The wife wears short shorts and say there fools who would whistle and make catcalls, the woman would be putting her husband in dilemma because he would act macho and stuff because he is with her wife. I mean what's a man to do? Don't you agree?

When men whistle and make catcalls at women is they think of women as trophy wives and girlfriends. So when a sexy, beautiful woman notices that a man is interested at her but is not whistling at her is do no be insecure about it. He does not know how to whistle. How does a woman know that a man is interested to meet her? Women know it.

One day there was frog school where there is a master frog testing his student frogs. The command is the students are to climb non-stop up the 25ft high tree. So off they go, some frogs fell at the slippery trunk and branches. The master shouts, come down its dangerous, so some others climbed down. At the top it becomes swaying and one small frog remained, determined despite the master's command to come down. He reached the summit, climbed down and the master congratulated him. The master told his other students that they should emulate the frog for having courage, obedience and smarts because the first command supersedes the next commands. The small frog student was speechless and has the master puzzled. One of the frog students said, Master, he cannot understand you because he is deaf. This story was told me by my Project Manager in Malaysia.

I beg to disagree though because I often communicate in MY using sign language and gestures.

The moral of the story is when you are looking for directions, you be attentive and understand what it means. Do not just nod and say ya ya as if you know the map.

Governors and Mayors

Good Morning Lads, I am wondering whether we have too many governors and mayors in the PH so there is more clashing and more idle time because there is little work. I am saying we compare our system to the USA where they have a governor for every state whereas we have governors for every provinces. The provinces are made up of cities and municipalities, the latter being not prosperous enough to be a city. So the cities are led by the mayors and the municipalities are the under the jurisdiction of the governor. These cities and municipalities are further broken down into districts.

Why the need to compare is because the USA is one of the top economies in the world thus they are a good model of government.

So we come up with suggestions for benchmarks. One is that we have 18 regions so we can consider or even rename regions as the PH states. Then we will have eighteen governors.

A model is not a trophy. A woman is not a trophy so a man must seek a wife who is more than a trophy. A man is not a trophy either so a woman must.wait for a man who is more than a trophy. A trophy is good for display and as a weapon if you are angry.

A commercial model endorses consumer products. If you seek and find something in the person that satiates your spiritual hunger, then that is golden.

We have a total of 81 governors. I say the governors and mayors do not have enough power and influence that they can develop their regions and constituents. There are too many of them that they are carbon copy and overlap the duties. The fishes in the fish pen suffer when they are crowded cause there is not enough oxygen.

Gone Fishing

Gone Fishing (A day in the life) ©

The sun was angry at the far end of the ocean
When the fisherman casted his net -
Like a spider carefully weaving a web.
He casted with all his energy to no avail,
And goes home empty handed once again.

His body was naked from the waist up,
And a Nike trunks holding up oh so tightly,
The whitened spray of the sea all over.
He felt the rumble in his tummy,
And hurried his kayaking under the light of the moon.

At the shore, he pushed the boat towards the sole parking space,
And walked towards home humming to Amazing Race.
He is beaten black or blue but still hopeful.
He faithfully devours the left-over memories of the yester-months,
And smirks ever so slightly as he goes to bed satiated.

Gridlock

MANILA - Metro Manila was hit with traffic gridlock Monday morning after major road sections were closed for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders Summit.

The road closures, meant to speed up the shuttling of APEC delegates to the summit and related meetings, caused heavy to moderate traffic along EDSA, C-5 Road, South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), Skyway and other roads.
http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/nation/

Filipinos in the Philippines are uneducated and undisciplined drivers. As you can see, there is heavy traffic because the impatient drivers cut into the next lanes, straddling at the lines to one-up each other. How is it difficult to obey that faster vehicles occupy the leftmost sides? To keep in your lanes? To provide traffic signs? To educate drivers? To educate the traffic enforcers?

There should be a centralized bus terminal at the outside of the city so buses does not add to the traffic with their comings and goings.

The reason why slow moving vehicles are in the leftmost lane is that they lining in for a left turn so the traffic control center should evaluate the strategy of where to put left turns.

Its because I have drived abroad in Malaysia and in Palau before and the first thing I observed is that they keep in their lanes. I know the population is comparatively smaller but you get the idea. Those who are disciplined in small things tend to be disciplined in big things. What do you expect?

So the traffic I understand is handled by the Highway Patrol Group. Then for Metro Manila, the cities are led by the Mayors. Its better that Mayors have their own police force because they know best their cities and they are more qualified to solve their traffic situations. I mean I think the HPG belongs to the national police not the Mayor's. This is just my impression pending more research later.

The PH needs more train systems to alleviate traffic cause right now we only have three light railway train systems and an antique diesel locomotive train line. We are totally desperate for train system design and technology. We need to ask help from experts because we need help in this field.
